Farmers First: Rural Empowerment & Organic Farming
With The Support Of The Maharani Lakshmibai Foundation
In The Heart Of India’s Economy Lies A Resilient Yet Underappreciated Community—the Farmers. They Are The Backbone Of Our Nation, Feeding Over A Billion People, Yet Often Face Systemic Neglect, Unfair Pricing, Poor Health Infrastructure, And Lack Of Access To Education. The Maharani Lakshmibai Foundation (MLBF) Believes It’s Time To Change That Narrative. Through Our Campaign "Farmers First: Rural Empowerment & Organic Farming,, We Are Dedicated To Supporting Sustainable Agriculture, Promoting Fair Trade, And Improving Health And Education In Rural India.
Sustainable Agriculture: Growing With Nature
Conventional Farming Methods That Rely Heavily On Chemical Fertilisers And Pesticides Are Not Only Damaging The Soil But Also The Health Of Farmers And Consumers Alike. The Mlbf Advocates A Return To Organic And Regenerative Agriculture, Where The Land Is Nourished, Biodiversity Is Protected, And Crops Are Grown Without Harmful Chemicals.
Through Farmer Awareness Programs And Training Sessions, We Have Enabled Over 2,000 Farmers Across Villages In Uttar Pradesh And Madhya Pradesh To Adopt Natural Composting, Organic Pest Control, And Water Conservation Techniques.
“We were Burning Out Our Soil With Chemical Inputs. With Organic Methods, Our Land Feels Alive Again,” Says Savitri Devi, An Organic Farmer Trained By MLBF.
Fair Trade & Economic Justice
Market Access Remains A Critical Challenge. Middlemen Often Exploit Small Farmers, Offering Them Below-market Rates. The Mlbf Facilitates Direct-to-consumer Models, Cooperatives, And Tie-ups With Fair Trade-certified Platforms So That Farmers Receive A Fair Price For Their Produce.
We’re Also Working On Launching A “farmers first” Organic Label To Help Rural Producers Brand And Sell Their Organic Crops, Pulses, And Herbal Products Across India, Increasing Their Income While Ensuring Consumers Get Safe And Authentic Produce.
Farmer Health & Well-being
Exposure To Pesticides, Harsh Working Conditions, And Lack Of Healthcare Access have taken A Heavy Toll On Farmer Families. The MLBF organises monthly Rural Health Camps, Providing Free Check-ups, Medicine, Mental Health counselling, And Awareness About Occupational Safety.
We Also Distribute Protective Gear, Gloves, And Natural Pesticide Kits To Reduce Direct Contact With Harmful Substances. Emphasis Is Placed On Women Farmers, Who Often Work The Hardest But Remain Invisible In Policymaking.
Rural Education & Youth Empowerment
To Break The Cycle Of Poverty And Empower The Next Generation Of Rural Innovators, Education Is Key. MLBF’s Initiative "Shiksha Se Shakti" (Empowerment Through Education) Includes:
Scholarships For Children Of Farmers
Mobile Learning Vans With E-Content On Organic Farming, Health & Finance
Skill Development For Rural Youth In Agri-tech, Food Processing, And Sustainable Practices
Education Doesn’t Just Change Minds; It Transforms Communities. It Enables The Children Of Farmers To Become Scientists, Entrepreneurs, Or Leaders—while Still Valuing Their Roots.
